Samsung 60 LCD Reviews -Design
Simply, one would be hard put to name another mid-range HDTV equally impeccable or better-designed as the LN60C630. Another pleasant surprise is the revamped remote shipped with this HDTV. The clicker is really convenient and handy with backlighting in most keys and logical groupings, although it would have been better if the buttons are made much more differentiated. The remote works quite well with the menu system that, though designed for previous models, is still snappy and functional; the blue-highlighted menus include intuitive icons and text explanations that afford even dummies enough sense to operate the LCD TV.
Screen/Picture Clarity
Even if the Samsung 60 LCD LN60C630 uses the older non-dimming LCD technology, the unit nonetheless performs well with accurate colors, deep black levels and uniform output that match those in top-of-the-line non-local-dimming LCDs. But even the life-like and vivid screen images give off a discernible blue tinge.that softens the impression, and shadow details are a bit problematic, as features of dark areas are too obscured to be seen.
Off-angle viewing is good for an LCD, but the glossy finish of the screen is not effective in filtering out object reflections in brightly lit rooms (although this is reportedly not a problem in the series’ smaller sizes built with a matte finish screens).
With the same powerful video processor as its higher-end siblings, the Samsung LN60C630 is definitely a great buy. The processor with 120Hz. refresh rate includes several dejudder and motion settings to smooth out screen displays and reduce artifacts, and this HDTV handles full 1080p/24 high-def materials quite exceptionally. The same holds true on standard-def materials, as the HDTV is able to resolve all the lines from DVD and PC sources effortlessly.
Features
Buyers looking for full Internet connectivity in a HDTV are well-advised to stay clear of the Samsung 60 LCD LN60C630, as it lacks this feature, along with the slew of Internet-based applications and widgets. But even without said goodies, this set offers enough features that make it worth the buck: Samsung DLNA media streaming and firmware upgrading through the Ethernet port; video streaming and photo/music playback via the USB; picture-in-picture display; and ambient sensors with power-saving mode to reduce energy usage.
